US designates Bin Ladin son as global terrorist

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The United States (U S) has added the son of the late Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda Network security in-charge Ibrahim Al Bana to the US counter-terrorism blacklist, in a move that would keep him from accessing the US financial system, a media report said on Friday. 

The State and Treasury departments said on Thursday they had designated Hamza bin Laden a "global terrorist" who they said had "called for acts of terrorism in Western capitals". 

According to Aljazeera, Hamza, who is in his mid-twenties, has become active as a member of al-Qaeda since his father's death at the hands of US Special Forces on May 2, 2011.

Born in 1989, Hamza, remained closed to his father.

Alqaeda Network is being headed by Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahiri since the killing of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistaninfo-icon, but Hamza has also issued audio messages to supporters. He was officially named an al-Qaeda member in 2015, the US state department said. 

Despite, Bin laden son, another key Alqaeda member had been added to the US counter-terrorism blacklist and amount $5 million head money over his arrest.
