KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A poor family has been promised monthly assistance by a charity organization after Pajhwok Afghan News interviewed the family in southeastern Khost province.

Lwedali Raporta Kari (Raise the Fallen) charity foundation head, Afghan Yar, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he found the family through a Pajhwok report.

“We are trying to provide edible and other items to this family every month for a long time, we thank Pajhwok for sharing the voice of the poor family with others,” he said.

Yar gave a bag of flour, 5 kilograms of ghee, some sugar, tea and other essential items to the family in first aid.

The family is supported by a widowed mother who is living with her eight children in a patched tent in an enclosure in Azada Mina area on the outskirts of Khost city.

Sherin Gula in an interview with Pajhowk had said that she had no money to purchase firewood for keeping their tent warm or food to eat.

She thanked Pajhwok and the charity foundation and asked all rich people to help in resolving problems of the poor people.

He called media role as important in resolving social problems, particularly problems of poor people.

He said there were many poor families who did not want to beg and their problems could be resolved if media raised their voice.

“There must be hundreds of families like Sherin Gula in Khost suffering from poverty.”
