Woman, children in hospital after jumping from 3rd floor

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A woman jumped from the third storey of her house along with two children in northern Balkh province after her husband informed her of his second marriage plan.

Provincial police spokesman Sher Jan Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred in the Balkh Township of Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, on Saturday night.

The 35-year-old jumped from the building along with her two children. The womeninfo-icon and her children were evacuated to hospital. A probe has been launched by police.

Mazar-i-Sharif Civil Hospital Director Dr. Noor Mohammad Faiz said the injured were brought to the hospital in the morning.

He quoted the woman as saying her husband was living in American. On Saturday night, he told her over the telephone that he was on the verge of a second marriage.

After hearing her husband’s decision attempted suicide by jumping from a three-storey building along with her two children. The woman fell over a vehicle and survived. Her condition was said to be stable.
