Taliban governor for Kunduz killed in drone strike

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon-designated governor for northern Kunduz province has been killed in a drone strike, local officials said on Sunday.

Asadullah Omarkhail, the Kunduz governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the shadow governor, Mullahinfo-icon Abdul Salam, was killed along with three companions in the drone strike in Amar Malooq  locality of Dashti Archi district Sunday around 3:20pm.

“The killing of Mullah Abdul Salam would have a negative impact on Taliban and positive impact on the security situation in Kunduz”.

Earlier, the administrative chief for Dashti Archi district told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Taliban governor for Kunduz was wounded in a suicide attack and was evacuated to neighboring country Tajikistan through Russia’s support.

It is for a third time local officials have been reporting the killing of Salam, a senior Taliban commander in Kunduz.
