6 policemen killed as Taliban storm Kunduz checkpoint

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least six policemen have been killed and a seventh wounded in a Talibaninfo-icon attack on a security post on the outskirts of the capital of northeastern Kunduz province, an official said on Sunday.

Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hamid Hamidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban stormed a security post in the Qabristan area of the third police district on Saturday night.

He said six policemen were killed and a seventh wounded in the assault. He added they planned to conduct a clearing operation against the Taliban in Qabristan area.

On the other hand, Kunduz Civil Hospital Director Dr. Marzai Salam confirmed receiving five bodies and a wounded policeman from the site. She said the condition of the injured was stable.
