TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): At least 10 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been killed in a coordinated Talibaninfo-icon attack on a besieged military base in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Monday.

Police Chief Brig. Gen. Ghulam Farooq Sangari told Pajhwok Afghan News the Samad military base in the Khurma locality of the provincial capital had been under Taliban’s siege for the past six months.

Sangari said the insurgents launched the coordinated attack on the base from different directions on Sunday night, killing at least 10 soldiers. There was no information about the injured troops.

He said 10 militants were also killed and wounded. Military officials could not be reached for comments. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed the attack, but did not give information about causalities.
