SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Corruption has reached the peak in judicial organs of northern Jawzjan province, a former senator said on Thursday, a claim endorsed by the officials concerned.

Sayed Azizullah Alfati, a former senator, told a meeting about accountability at the provincial Attorney Office, that there were many problems in the judiciary organs and no one could ignore them.

“Corruption has spread to every part of the judiciary organs, people are fed up with the situation, anyone who enters these organs should pay bribe to have their work done,” he said.

He expressed concern about what he described a galling situation and asked the higher authorities to keep an eye on their subordinates and introduce reforms in their offices.

Alfati asked the Jawzjan people not to turn away face from facts and report government’s failures and corruption in judiciary organs to senior officials.

Imaminfo-icon Amruddin Yamin, head of the appellate court of Jawzjan, said corruption and other problems existed in the judicial organs due to the ongoing conflict, anarchism and unawareness. “We do not ignore problems and we have started work on resolving them.”

He said people should report them corruption incidents involving low ranking officials.

Mohammad Daud Hassanzada, head of the trial court of Jawzjan, said: “We have repeatedly talked to people to inform us about corruption, but unfortunately no one has so far come forward.”

Provincial justice department head Habibullah Awa Omari confirmed problems in judicial organs and said the level of awareness in some offices had been low and they could not perform well.

This was the first time the Jawzjan appellate court held accountability meeting with people.
