Our Afghan reconciliation efforts twice sabotaged: Aziz

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has reiterated Pakistaninfo-icon’s desire for cooperative relations with Afghanistaninfo-icon and other neighbours.

In meetings with the US advisor on national security at the weekend, Sartaj Aziz said, Pakistan restated its policy of supporting a meaningful Afghan-led reconciliation process.

In an interview, he alleged Pakistan’s efforts for reconciliation in Afghanistan had twice been sabotaged -- the announcement of Mullahinfo-icon Omar’s death and Mullah Mansoor’s killing in a drone strike.

Sartaj Aziz told the state-run TV that US National Security Advisor McMaster had returned home satisfied with Pakistan’s clarification regarding Afghanistan.

Pakistan and the Trump administration should jointly work for stabilising Afghanistan, he believed, saying the overall relationship between Islamabad and Washington had been positive and stable.
