KABUL’s Empowerment and Child Protection Prof. Dr. Yohana Susana Yembise on Tuesday said his country was ready to help empower the Afghan women through cooperation in different fields.

The visiting dignitary, who arrived in Kabul at formal invitation of First Lady Rula Ghani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the purposed of her trip was to bring the message of peace to the Afghan women.

She would participate and speak at a symposium of Afghan women in Kabul. Yembise said it was her first trip to Afghanistan and hoped the visit would further strengthen relations between the two countries.

She said Indonesia’s experience in dealing with sexual abuse and family violence against women had been shared with the Afghan government.

She said Jakarta wanted to help the Afghan women find access to education besides other facilities and training.

She said the Indonesian assistance would be dispatched through the Afghan Women’s Affairs Ministry and the Afghan women would get scholarships to study in Indonesia.

She said Indonesia was a huge country of more than 250 million people where half of the population was comprised of women.

She promised to discuss with her country officials how to help the Afghan women through the Afghan government and different stakeholders.

She stressed women’s role in the peace process and asked the Afghan government to pay special attention to women and children safety. Yembise asked Afghan women not to surrender to challenges and stand firm in difficulties.
