Trilateral dialogue to foster peace and stability

BEIJING (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon, China and Pakistaninfo-icon have held their first round of trilateral Practical Cooperation Dialogue (PCD) in Beijing, the capital of China, a media report said on Sunday.

The three countries agreed to promote practical measures for cooperation and exchanged views on deeper trilateral links during the meeting late on Saturday, according to Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Director General (DG) Mansoor Ahmad Khan from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, his Chinese counterpart Xiao Qian and Director General Khalid Payenda from the Afghan Ministry of Finance.

The three sides noted that trilateral cooperation among was conducive to peace, stability and development of Afghanistan and the region. They appreciated the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and its benefits for promoting regional connectivity.

They agreed to advance practical cooperation in various areas so as to promote regional economic integration under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. They agreed to organise workshops, seminars and different forums.

Pakistan and China will explore trilateral cooperation in areas of infrastructure, energy, educationinfo-icon, healthinfo-icon, agricultureinfo-icon, human resource training and capacity building based on the needs of Afghanistan and according to China and Pakistan’s respective assistance programmes for Afghanistan.

By becoming a part of CPEC in specific and OBOR in general, Afghanistan will have new vistas and avenues to stabilise its economy by enhancing trade opportunities.
