Khost gathering flays anti-govt protest in Kabul

Khost gathering flays anti-govt protest in Kabul

Jun 03, 2017 - 20:42

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Hundreds of residents and government officials in southeastern Khost province on Saturday condemned anti-government protests in Kabulinfo-icon as ‘illegal.’

Addressing the demonstrators in Khost City, the provincial capital, Khost governor Hukam Khan Habibi said some regional spy networks wanted to pave the ground for violence in the country and collapse the system.

He said the protest in Kabul against the government was undemocratic and illegal and asked the people to stand with the system.

“Is this protest to infiltrate gunmen and kill innocent people,” asked Habibi, who accused some former high officials of playing with people’s sentiments for their own interests.

“Ahmad Zia Massoud was part of this system until recently. When he was in the government, the government was right, but now when he is out, the government is not right.”

Former jihadiinfo-icon leader Mohammad Sardar Zadran in his address lashed out at former president Hamid Karzai, saying the former leader had given much space to leaders of the protestors.

Zadran said they would support the government in dealing with the protestors.
