Ghani denounces Tehran attack, stresses joint anti-terror fight

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday condemned terrorist attacks in Tehran and asked all countries, particularly neighbors, to seriously fight terror groups and their hideouts.

About 12 have been killed and 40 injured in the IS-claimed attacks on Iran’s parliament and mausoleum of Ruhollah Khomeini. Some people have been also taken hostage by the attackers.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said the Afghanistaninfo-icon people could feel the pain of the friendly and neighboring country, Iran, and condemned the terrorist attacks in Tehran.

The Arg said terrorists killed and maimed innocent civilians in Kabul, Tehran and London, showing hostility to civilization and humanity.

“Afghanistan has always stressed joint combat against terrorism and the need for global consensus at Tuesday’s ‘Kabul Process’ conference on fighting the menace.”

The statement said Afghanistan had long been a frontline state in the war against international terrorism, showing its sincerity and bravery.

It quoted President Ghani as saying: “We are awaiting all countries especially our neighboring countries to take serious the threat and risk of terrorism and seriously combat these groups and their safe-havens.”

The president extended condolences to the people and the government of Iran on behalf of the government and the people of Afghanistan over the incidents.
