Suicide bomber kills 11 Mullah Rasoul fighters in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least 11 Talibaninfo-icon militants have been killed by a suicide bomber sent by a rival faction in Greshk district of southern Helmand province, security officials said on Wednesday.

A security official, who declined to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News the suicide explosion was carried out in Samynar area by the bomber loyal to Taliban’s supremo Mullahinfo-icon Habatullah on fighters loyal to a splinter Taliban group leader Mullah Rasoul.

Five others rebels were wounded in the suicide attack, he added.

Greshk police chief Lt. Mohammad Ismael Khpalwak also confirmed the incident but put the toll at four dead and five wounded.

Officials at the Emergency-run hospital in Lashkargah said they had been delivered three injured persons.

However, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, said the explosion was carried out by Mohammad Naseem Helmandi on the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) department. He said 26 NDS personnel were killed and 18 others wounded in the blast.

But Mullah Manan Niazai, Mullah Rasoul group’s spokesman, confirmed their fighters were targeted in the attack. He said their fighters suffered casualties, but he had no exact figure.

Meanwhile, Ismael Khpalwak said Mullah Rasoul group exploded a landmine on Haibatullah’s fighters in Greshk district this morning, killing five militants and wounding two others.
