KABUL Motasem Agha asked the Afghan government to remove the sources of war instead of nurturing more elements that fuel the conflict.

Motasem, who is the Taliban’s former leader Mullah Umar close relative, expressed the view during his message on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

He offered his condolences to the victims of recent terrorist attacks and at the same time congratulated countrymen and Muslims on the religious festival.

He said explosions in Mosques, seminaries, funeral and public places served no purpose and the hands of Afghanistan’s enemies was behind the cowardly act.

Motasem opposed the deployment of more US troop to Afghanistan and said the move would further complicate the conflict.

He asked the Afghan government to remove causes of conflict, a method through which the decades old conflict could come to an end.

He stressed over inter-Afghan talks and said internal differences posed huge threat to the unity of Muslims.
