KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday said the growing trust of people in the government and their cooperation with security forces was the starting point of resolving problems.

The CEO presided over a meeting attended by members of the Kabul provincial council and security officials to discuss and take measures for security of Kabul.

Abdullah said officials who had committed negligence in duty to prevent recent attacks in Kabul would be brought to justice.

He added civilians and security officials should share the truth and necessary trust should be realized between the people and officials.

Referring to recent incidents and protests in Kabul, he said “We are awaiting the outcome of the ongoing investigations; we assure the people that no negligence would happen in the investigation.”

He urged political leaders, civil societyinfo-icon activists and influential figures to present legal and logical demands. He said officials should be patient while discussing reasonable demands and seeking solution to problems.

"The people of Afghanistaninfo-icon are not to blame, we are responsible, we and all political leaders in the country are responsible," Abdullah said.

He added: "Any activity that causes divisions among people of Afghanistan in the name of tribe, language, and region helps the enemies of Afghanistan, who are out to weaken Afghanistan.”

He called on security forces to function in accordance with the law and obey decisions of the National Security Council.

He acknowledged security officials did not provide timely information to the people regarding an incident. “That’s why people think there is a conspiracy."

Abdullah said religious scholars, civil society organizations and all the people of Afghanistan had an important role to play in solving the problems. He said if the gap between the people and security forces increased, no effort would work.

Abdullah called on security officials to communicate with people in eliminating terrorist groups.

The high ranking government official called the lack of coordination among various institutions and communication between authorities and people representatives a huge factor behind insecurity in the country.

He said people’s role in maintaining security was more valuable and people should be convinced that the law was above all.

Abdullah repeatedly said: "If people lack confidence in their security forces, smugglers, terrorists, suicide bombers and criminals will feel free to make their plans.”

The CEO said today's meeting with people's representatives was an important one and said in the next meeting in addition to people's representatives in Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon, civil society representatives and district representatives should also be invited.
