KABUL (Pajhwok): Indo-Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry director Kanwarjit Bajaj has met the Afghan envoy to India and discussed with him the trade body’s background and future activities, a media report said Wednesday.

The meeting between Bajaji and Afghan envoy Shaida Abdali took place at the latter’s office in New Delhi on Tuesday.

At the meeting, the Indo-Afghan chamber of commerce briefed Abdali about the chamber’s background, activities and future plans.

He said the chamber provided a platform for traders of both the countries to interact and know about new trade opportunities at national and international levels besides information about Indian trade rules and regulations.

Indian members of the joint trade body expressed their desire of enhanced trade activities in Afghanistan and requested the Afghan Embassy to help them in this regard.

While praising 64 years of trade relations with Afghanistan, Ambassador Abdali welcomed their interest to further their business activities in Afghanistan.

He assured them of the embassy’s full cooperation in expanding their businesses in Afghanistan.

Established in 1952, the Indo-Afghan Chamber of Commerce has been involved in importing and trading dried fruits, nuts, herbs and spices across the world.

Mohammad Shoaib Habibi, Economic Counselor at the Afghan Embassy, was also present at the meeting.
