Parwan-Bamyan highway closed amid fierce clash

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The busy Parwan-Bamyan highway was closed on Thursday morning in the wake of to a fierce clash between the security forces and Talibaninfo-icon, officials said.

Haroon Mubarez, public order police commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked security check-posts in the Pul-i-Rangab area of Siah Gird district in the morning.

He said heavy clash were still ongoing before noon, but details of casualties were yet to be known, he added.

On the other hand, residents of the area said the Bamyan-Parwan highway had to be blocked due to gunbattles. But Mubarez denied the claim.

Parwan police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Mamozai, meanwhile, said the deputy crime branch chief for Syedkhel district was gunned down by robbers during a clash in Kakakhel area late on Wednesday.

He said three suspects arrested in connection with the murder were residents of Syedkhel district

But Jamshed, an inhabitant of the area, alleged the armed robbers had escaped and the detainees were innocent residents.
