New political movement launched to defend rights of eastern provinces

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Political leaders and public representatives from eastern Afghanistaninfo-icon have created a new political movement to secure their rights.

Tens of political leaders, that included Afghanistan envoy to Pakistaninfo-icon Umar Zakhelwal, Presidential Advisor Fazal Karim Fazal, have gathered at Lawmaker Mirwais Yasini’s house in Kabul last night and announced the launch of the movement.

Lawmakers and political leaders from Nangarhar, Laghman, Nuristan provinces were part of the overnight gathering.

Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon Member Hazrat Ali told the gathering that efforts were on for the creation of new political movement through which pressure would be put on government to address major issues of the eastern part of the country which is security and development.

He said the new political movement was consisted of a leadership council with Syed Ishaq Gailani and Mirwais Yasini as their spokesmen and an administrative panel would be appointed in the future.

Umar Zakhelwal, the country envoy to the Pakistan, stressed over unity and asked the council members to defend their rights.

It is pertinent to mention that new political movements and alliances were being creates which the political experts termed them as reflection of weak government in the centre.
