Aug 08, 2017 - 15:35

FARAH/CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): One child was killed and two others wounded in a rocket shell blast in western Farah province. Separately, eight people were injured during a clash at a wedding party in central Parwan province, sources said Tuesday.

Abdul Basir, the slain child’s uncle, told Pajhwok Afghan News the children aged around 10 years were grazing sheep in Raj village when one of them found an unexploded rocket shell.

He said the shell went off as the child dropped it, killing him and injuring two others belonging to the same family.

The second child got one of his hands severed in the explosion and the third child was slightly wounded and they were currently under treatment in a local hospital in Farah city.

Pajhwok tried to seek comments from provincial officials and doctors about the incident, but a contact could not be established.

In Parwan province, eight people were injured after two groups clashed over serving food during a wedding party in Bagram district on Monday noon.

Bagram district chief, Abdul Shukur Qadosi, said the clash followed a verbal dispute between the two parties and the injured included the cook and a bridegroom’s nephew.

Dr. Abdul Qasim Sangin, provincial hospital head, said six individuals had been brought to the hospital and two of them were in critical condition.
