5 border police killed in blast near Iran border

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Five Afghan border police were killed and two others wounded after their vehicle struck a roadside bomb near the Afghanistaninfo-icon-Iran border in western Farah province, an official said on Friday.

The blast took place in Pashmaki area late on Thursday, a government official in Farah said on the condition of anonymity.

He said five Afghan border policemen were killed and two others were wounded in the incident.

The governor’s spokesman, Nasir Mehri, also confirmed the blast near the border with Iran, but said one border police official, Stg. Abdul Manan, was killed and two others were wounded in the blast that damaged the police vehicle.

The injured have been evacuated to the civil hospital in Farah City, the provincial capital, and they were said to be out of danger, the official said.

The Talibaninfo-icon have claimed responsibility for the attack that they said killed six border police, including Abdul Manan.
