KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A university student in southeastern Khost province has designed a small military model tank. The student has urged the government to provide him technical tools and other resources.

The innovator, Rashidullah, a resident of Hassanzai village in Ismailkhel-Mandozai district, is a third year student of literature at the Sheikh Zayed University in Khost City, the provincial capital.

In an exclusive chat with Pajhwok Afghan News, Rashidullah said he built the small tank using plastic, a metal frame, dynamos, tyres of a small bicycle and other things.

“It is a military or police tank and is one meter long and nearly half a meter wide,” the student said, claiming he could make more innovations if he was assisted.

Though a literature student, Rashidullah, who has passion for technical work, said: “I have installed two dynamos in this machine that is also moved by electricity. A machinegun fixed atop the tank adds to its beauty.”

The student said he had been in love with technical works in military area since long, but his poverty restricted him to concentrate.

Rashidullah said before making his tank, he abandoned making a helicopter because he needed some parts that were expensive.

“It took a month to make the tank. I would go to the city to bring mechanic parts after saving some money,” said the student, who offered his contribution to innovations in the military sphere.

Rashidullah, who has not yet shared his work with a government department, said if the government gave him a chance, he would be able to build on his skill.

Mohammad Anwar Zahid, youth affairs director at the Information and Culture Department of Khost province, promised to encourage Rashidullah and introduce him to the authorities in Kabulinfo-icon.

He said before Rashidullah another three youth from Khost had been supported and introduced to the central authorities.

The provincial government spokesman, Mubaris Zadran, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Rashidullah had not yet shared his ideas with the provincial administration. Zadran asked the student to contact him.

“We will support Rashidullah and everyone like him within what are available with us, it is hoped he would showcase his tank to security organs.”
