9 militants killed in Laghman-Nangarhar offensives

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least nine Daesh (Islamic State) and Talibaninfo-icon insurgents have been killed and four others arrested during air-and-operations in eastern Laghman and Nangarhar provinces, officials said on Wednesday.

Sarhadi Zwak, the Laghman governor's spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Afghan Air Force carried out operation against militants in Panje Payee area of Alingar district on Tuesday night.

He said seven Taliban, including a notorious commander named Gul Mohammad Adalat, were killed, three wounded and four others captured by the security forces.

He added Adalat was involved in terrorist activities against the government and was wanted by the government.

In Nangarhar, two Daesh fighters were killed and two others wounded during a US drone strike in the Manogan area of Haska Mena district on Tuesday.

Attaullah Khgyani, the governor’s spokesman, said heavy and light weapons belonging to IS fighters were also destroyed during the strike. Taliban and Daesh have not yet commented on the offensives.
