Police among 4 killed in Kandahar, Uruzgan blasts

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Two policemen and as many civilians have been killed as a result of explosions in southern Kandahar and central Uruzgan provinces, officials said on Monday.

Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place at 7am in the limits of the 8th police district near the Mirwais Hospital in the provincial capital.

He said one policeman patrolling the area was killed and a second wounded in the bombing. But another security official, who declined to be named, said two police personnel were killed.

Separately, one civilian was killed and another wounded by a Talibaninfo-icon-planted roadside bomb in Maiwand district. The injured was evacuated by police to hospital.

According to another report, police arrested eight men with weapons in Shah Walikot district during an operation.

In Uruzgan, one man was killed and two womeninfo-icon were wounded when a blast took place in the Wach Karezinfo-icon area of Tarinkot on Sunday, deputy police chief Col. Abdul Qawi Omar said.

But Tawoos, a resident of the area, said one person was killed and seven others were wounded including three women and three children.
