FARAH: 5 police killed, 2 wounded in Taliban attack

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok) Five police personnel have been killed and two others wounded in a Talibaninfo-icon attack in western Farah province, an official said on Thursday.

Nasir Mehri, the governor’s spokesman, said the militants stormed a security check-post in the Shah Wali village of Farah City, causing the police casualties.

He said the injured had been evacuated to hospital for medical treatment and their condition was stable.

Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault. Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban’s spokesman, said the fighters had also seized some weapons and ammunition from police.

According to media reports, 25 police personnel have recently been killed and several others injured in Taliban attacks on security check-posts in Farah.
