6 policemen, 8 militants killed in Zabul clash

QALAT (Pajhwok): Six police personnel and eight militants have been killed during a clash in Arghandab district of southern Zabul province, an official said on Sunday.

Arghandab district chief Amirjan Alokozay told Pajhwok Afghan News hundreds of militants launched coordinated attacks on six check-posts near to the district centre on Saturday night.

He said six security forces and eight insurgents were killed and eight policemen and 12 Talibaninfo-icon injured during the gun battle.

Alokozay said many weapons belonging to militants were captured by security forces.

But an official wishing anonymity said eight policemen were killed and 12 others wounded in the clash.

Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
