KABUL (Pajhwok): Indonesian President Joko Widodo has assured the visiting delegation of High Peace Council (HPC) to play role in Afghan peace and reconciliation efforts.

“I really understand the visit of Afghanistan to Indonesia to play a role in peace and reconciliation efforts, I will help Afghanistan demand, Indonesia is ready to fulfill that wishes”, said Joko.

During a meeting with HPC delegation at Presidential Palace of Bogor President Joko pledged to share his country’s experience of conflict resolution and ethinc diversity.

HPC Chairman Karim Khalili headed his delegation during the meeting. Vice President of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla, Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto, and the President’s Special Envoy for Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation, Din Syamsuddin were also present during the meeting.

Earlier, Indonesian embassy in Kabul said in a statement that Afghan HPC delegation will visit Jakarta, Indonesia from 19th to 25th November at the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.

The purpose of the visit was to have exchange of views and share lesson learnt, and reinforce the both countries’ experience dealing with peace process, reconciliation efforts and reintegration mechanism.

Indonesia could share its experiences dealing with armed conflict, such as in Aceh Province, and communal conflict such as in Ambon, Moluccas Province, the statement said
