KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Wednesday announced it would start registering complaints against polling stations designated by the election commission from Saturday.

The Independent Election Commission (IECinfo-icon) approved 4,233 centres and polling stations across 23 provinces after a comprehensive assessment. Polling stations in the remaining 11 provinces would be specified in near future.

Ali Raza Rouhani, IECC spokesman, on Wednesday told a press conference here that a complaints handling regulation had been recently approved for ensuring electoral justice.

“The complaints addressing regulation is aimed at ensuring balance in designating polling centres and stations whereby people can file their complaints from December 2, next Saturday, in Kabul and provinces for one week.”

He said people could also send their complaints through (arzyabi.shekayat@iecc.af).

He said the IECC would take decision on the complaints in compliance with the electoral law and other documents which could help improve the election process and other figures received from the Central Statistics Organisation (CSO) and documents from the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG).

He said the IECC would then finalize its decision in a span of 30 days and would then send it to the Independent Election Commission (IEC) for implementation.

He said gatherings aimed at addressing complaints in terms of evaluation and balancing of centres and polling stations would be publicly held.

The IEC has announced July 7, 2018 a date for holding Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon and district council polls.
