24 Taliban, Daesh rebels killed in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Senior figures, including a shadowy district chief, were among 24 Talibaninfo-icon and Daesh militants killed during Afghan Special Forcces’ operations in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said Thursday.

The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Afghan Special Forces conducted operations in Doab and Ab Zangani areas of Hesarak district on Wednesday night.

The Taliban’s shadow district chief for Hesarak, Abdul Hassan aka Ajiz, was among insurgents killed in the operation, he said.

The dead included Taliban’s detention center in-charge Nabi aka Ghorzang, educationinfo-icon in-charge Yar Mohammad aka Haqyar and a commander.

Separately but near simultaneously 10 Daesh and two Taliban militants were killed in airstrikes and internal fights in Achin, Haska Mina and Khogyani districts of Nangarhar during the past 24 hours.

The governor’s spokesman said two Taliban fighters were killed during a clash with Daesh militants in Chinargi and Ghlo Cheni areas of Khogyani district.

Three Daesh fighters were killed during an airstrike in Salakach area of Haska Mina, he said, adding seven more Daesh fighters were killed in airstrikes in Mamandara area of Achin district.

Civilian suffered no casualties during these operations, Khogyani said.

The Taliban and Daesh militants have not commented on the incidents.
