New medical complex inaugurated in Kabul

Dec 08, 2017 - 15:19

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A newly built private medical complex was inaugurated in central capital Kabul on Friday, at a time when most Afghans travel abroad for treatment.

The medical complex was put into service in Surkh Pul area falling in the third police district of Kabul.

The complex director, Mohammad Hashim Karimi, said they offered quality healthinfo-icon services in order to encourage people not to visit foreign countries for treatment.

He said the complex has 128 beds and experienced foreign and local doctors have been hired for internal and general surgery, hygiene stroke (liproscopy), maternity, orthopedic, skin, nose, and stomach.

He said they had prepared a five-year plan for the medical complex under which facilities like angiography, angioplasty,  examinations, the treatment of a hole in the heart, changes in contact, childbirth, treatment of cancer and kidney diseases would be offered.

Karimi said high qualification courses for nurses, midwives and specialization for doctors were part of the five year plan.

High Peace Councilinfo-icon chief Mohammad Karim Khalili, who attended the medical complex inauguration, said Afghanistaninfo-icon had achieved considerable progress in various fields, including the health, during the past one and a half decade.

“But problems and weaknesses remain,” the top peace negotiator said, calling the medial complex a giant leap towards meeting the countrymen’s needs.

Khalili urged the private sector to come forward and invest in the health sector in order to prevent the Afghans from spending about $300 million on their treatment abroad.

He also asked the government and security organs to provide every possible facility to investors in order they could do business fearlessly.
