Dostum’s close aide claims surviving life attempt

Dostum’s close aide claims surviving life attempt

Dec 11, 2017 - 13:12

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): First Vice-President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum’s special representative has claimed surviving a life attempt from a lawmaker and a former police chief for Jawzjan province.

Nizamuddin Qaisari accused MP Fathullah Qaisar and Rahmatullah Turkistani, former police chief for Jawzjan, of offering 1.5 million afghanis to a man for killing him.

He alleged Ghulam Rassoul -- his brother-in-law -- was tasked with killing him. Together, they traveled to Kabulinfo-icon 10 days back to meet Qaisar and Turkistani.

Rassoul, who was allegedly given the money, planted a 10-kilogram landmine under his bed, getting full advantage of his nearness to Dostum’s aide.

Qaisari said according to a local intelligence report, Rassoul had confessed to being tasked by Fathullah and Turkistani to kill him. He asked the president to order the immediate arrest of the plotters.

But both Fathullah and Turkistani spurned the allegations as groundless. Turkistani said he had been out of Faryab for the past two years while the lawmaker rejected the so-called plot a conspiracy against him.
