KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Kabul has urged Washington to send the A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft back to Afghanistaninfo-icon, the Military Times reported on Thursday.

A senior defense official was quoted as saying that the Afghan government wanted the heavily-armed aircraft to return for airstrikes on drug laboratories.

However, no decision had been taken yet, US Air Force Brig. Gen. Lance Bunch said, adding: "The discussions of what forces we move to Afghanistan or drawdown from Iraq and Syria are all ongoing."

In a bid to destroy Talibaninfo-icon's revenue from the drug trade, Advanced F-22 fighters, joined by B-52 bombers and Afghan A-29 Tucano propeller aircraft, struck 25 narcotics labs this last month.

A staple of American airpower in Afghanistan for years, the A-10 Thunderbolt has the ability to carry a large amount of precision-guided missiles.
