30 militants killed in Helmand’s Nad Ali offensive

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least 30 Talibaninfo-icon insurgents, including two commanders, have been killed in air and ground operations in Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.

Police spokesman Abdul Salam Afghan told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan the dead included notorious commanders Sufi Khalid and Mullahinfo-icon Khel. Seven others were wounded and three more arrested, he said.

He said US forces also supported the operation in Nad Ali. Civilians and security forces suffered no casualties.

Four Kalashnikovs, one rocket, a walkie-talkie and two motorcycles were also seized by security personnel.

Governor Hayatullah Hayat said more security posts would be established in the district in order to ensure permanent security. He said reinforcements had reached the district.

There has been no word from Taliban in this regard. But the group spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi tweeted fighters had killed ANA soldiers in the war-hit district.
