Afghan, Iranian MPs agree on greater economic links
KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran’s parliament is ready to share law-making experiences with the Afghan legislature, says an Iranian public representative.
At its latest meeting in Tehran on Sunday, the Afghan-Iranian parliamentary friendship group underlined the need for cooperation in different fields.
According to Mehr News Agency, Iranian lawmaker Kourosh Karampour and Afghan MP Dawoud Kalkani co-chaired the meeting of the parliamentary panel.
“The huge commonalities shared by the two nations can boost bilateral cooperation significantly and improve relations in both public and private sectors,” hoped Karampour.
Iran’s parliament was willing to share its experiences in the field of legislation with the Afghans, he said, stressing a legal presence of Afghan nationals in Iran.
He added: “Our political ties are at a good level but economic relations are … far from meeting expectations. He suggested plans to remove hurdles to the growth of economic cooperation.
The MP optimistic the Afghan nation and government would overcome security problems that threatened their country and the region with national solidarity and unity.
Speaking on the occasion, Kalkani said: “We welcome Iran’s offer of sharing experiences and cooperation with Afghanistan’s parliament.”
“Terrorism is being fuelled in Afghanistan and other regions of the world by the superpowers seeking their own objectives,” he alleged, promising his country would continue the war on the menace.
