PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A senior Pakistani nationalist leader has urged China to help defuse tensions between Islamabad and Kabulinfo-icon.

Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan believed China could play a crucial role in normalising Pak-Afghan ties.

Strained relations between the neighbours impeded the fight against terrorism, he said while addressing a workers’ convention in Charsadda.

Peace in the two countries was interlinked and stability of the whole region would remain at risk until restoration of peace in Afghanistaninfo-icon, he said.

Asfandyar hit out at US President Donald Trump’s new policy for Afghanistan and his decision on recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Such policies would further aggravate the situation in Afghanistan and escalate tension in the Middle East, he warned.
