Firewood, flour & ghee prices down, gold up

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of rice, firewood and ghee have been dipped while that of gold increased during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.

Food Traders Union, Fazal Rahman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of 50kg of Kazakhstani flour declined from 1200afs to 1160afs and 16kg of Khurshid ghee from 1060afs to 1050afs.

But 49kg of Pakistani sugar cost 1,850afs and 24Kg of Pakistaninfo-icon rice 1950afs, the same prices of last week’s.

Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad Khairkhwa, a tea seller in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 280afs and the same amount of African black tea 300afs -- same prices as last week’s.

Ahmad Wali Panjsheri, who owns a grocery store in Dahn-i-Bagh area, sold a 49-kg bag of sugar for 1,900afs, a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,150afs, a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,250, 24-kg rice for 2,300afs, a kilo of green tea for 300afs and the same quantity of black tea for 350afs.

The price of gold increased. Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Russian gold was reduced from 1,800afs to 1,850afs while the same quantity of Arabian variety remained steady at 2,300afs.

Haji Hassan, a firewood seller in Charahi Shaheed area of Kabul, said the price of 560 kilograms of peeled oak dipped from 8,000afs to 7,800afs and the same quantity of cedar from 7,500afs to 7,200afs.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazir Abad Fuel Station in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News one liter of diesel cost 46afs and the same amount of petrol 45afs.

Seyar Ahmad, a gas dealer in Taimani area, said the rate of gas remained steady at 60afs a kilogram.

According to moneychangers’ union in Sara-i-Shazada, one US dollar accounted for 69.55afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 633afs against last week's rates of 69.50afs and 630afs respectively.
