Peshawar court acquits 2 Afghans of terrorism charges

Peshawar court acquits 2 Afghans of terrorism charges

Jan 05, 2018 - 09:08

PEAHAWAR (Pajhwok): A court in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistaninfo-icon’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has acquitted two Afghan citizens of terrorism charges.

Qabees and Tariq, the two accused, were acquitted by the anti-terrorism court on Thursday when the prosecution failed to prove terrorism charges against them.

Shabir Hussain Gigyani, counsel for the suspects, referred to the police claimed that the accused opened fire at a police party during raid on their house.

He said the police had also claimed recovering explosives from the house after their arrest. Gigyani questioned the police claims, saying the suspects had falsely been implicated in the case.

The prosecution had been unable to produce evidence before the court and thus they prayed the court to acquit them of the charges.
