64 HIA inmates released from Pul-i-Charkhi, Bagram prisons

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Sixty-four prisoners of the Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistaninfo-icon (HIA) on Thursday released from Pul-i-Charkhi and Bagram prisons, an official said on.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Tawab Ahmadzai, the Pul-i-Charkhi prison in charge, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 56 HIA inmates had been released today.

But Shamir Amirpur, head Interior Ministry’s department for prisons and courts relations, said of the total released HIA prisoners 38 freed from Bagram.

He added 31 more inmates of HIA would be freed from Pul-i-Charkhi prison and six more would be released till the end of the day.

But Fazal Ghani Haqmal, the media commission member of HIA, said 64 released prisoners of HIA had been handed over to them. He hoped that remaining 27 inmates would be freed in coming days.

Qazi Abdul Hai Faqiri, head of the HIA Judicial Commission, expressed pleasure over the release of HIA inmates and added that up to 3,000 member of HIA were still behind the bars in different jails.

He added the HIA wanted all free prisoners to respect the constitution of the country.

Abdul Hakim, one of the release prisoners, said: “I was sentenced to 12-year in prison soon after I was detained. I spent four and half years in jail and today I am very happy to be released.”

Qari Zabihullah, the resident of Maidan Wardak Jalrez district, said: “I was the student of pharmacy faculty at Dawat University and arrested with book. The court sentenced me to 12-years in jail and thanks to Allah today I am free.”
