Taliban trick, behead ALP member in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Taliban militants have beheaded an Afghan Local Police (ALP) member in the Mohammad Afgha district of central Logar province, an official said Wednesday.

Saleem Saleh, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Katubkhel locality on Tuesday night.

He said the insurgents tricked the ALP man into coming out of his post and then he was killed mysteriously.

He named the victim as Azizullah and added no one had been arrested in connection with the incident. An investigation was underway.

A resident of the locality, who wished to go unnamed, said the slain policeman would come to the village’s shop to buy hashish from his post.

He said the Taliban phoned the ALP member, pretending as hashish sellers and then cut off his head.

The Taliban took the severed head with them and placed it on a high place with a note threatening other ALP men with the same fate if they did not quit their job, the resident said.
