Balkh crisis should be resolved in line with Afghanistan’s law: UK

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ambassador of United Kingdom (UK) Nicholas Kay has expressed concern over the political crisis in northern Balkh province and demanded quick resolution to the crisis.

Ambassador Kay urged that Balkh crisis was an internal matter of Afghanistaninfo-icon but had international impact. He was addressing to gathering organised in the honour of students who completed higher educationinfo-icon studies at UK.  

He said there was more work needed for the improvement of security, peace and development in Afghanistan. He urged Balkh crisis should be resolved in line with the constitution.

When asked about terrorist safe havens in Pakistaninfo-icon, the envoy said countries who one way or the other helped terrorist should abandon that policy.

He said he recently traveled to Pakistan and held meetings with the military and civilian leadership.

He stressed that Kabul and Islamabad should work for the development of issues of mutual interest such trade, security and repatriation of refugees.

He said that UK was ready to play role in the development of relation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Ambassador Kay stressed over the timely conduct of Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon and District Council election.

He asked the government, election bodies, political parties, civil societyinfo-icon and election watchdogs to work for the conduct of timely poll.

He said the Britain was helping the High Peace Councilinfo-icon (HPC) financially and technically. He, however, stressed over the development of mutual consensus for peace and asked the neighboring countries to support the reconciliation process.

Ambassador Kay condemned terrorist attack on Save the Children compound in Jalalabad and termed the act against humanity.
