LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon’s training centres, revenue collection facilities had been targeted in airstrikes in southern Helmand province, officials said on Monday while the Taliban rejected the claims.

Ahmad Nawid Nazari, head of the borders and tribal affairs director, told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces last night targeted the Taliban revenue facilities and training centres in the Deshu district.

“The area targeted in overnight strikes situated between Nimroz and Helmand provinces where the Taliban established drug business and collected their revenue,” he said.

Nazari did not talk about the Taliban casualties but claimed heavy financial loses inflicted on the group during the attack.

Governor Hayatullah Hayat acknowledged attacks on the Taliban training centres and revenue collection facilities in Deshu.

“The Taliban suffered huge financial losses and weakened as a result of these attacks,” he said.

But the Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said shops and oil tankers had been targeted in Dehu district airstrikes and the Taliban suffered no losses.

Dehsu is one of the insecure districts of Helmand and was under the Taliban control from the past 15-year.
