Generals among 158 police officials being prosecuted

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwpk): The Ministry of Interior on Monday said it had introduced 158 police officials including four generals to the Attorney General Office for investigation into crimes of embezzlement, improper use of authority and perversion.

Zia Kohistan, MoI investigation section head, told reporters in Kabul that they had sent 125 dossiers of 158 individuals to the AGO after investigating 540 cases of money and weapons theft.

He said the accused included four generals, 90 officers, 52 sergents and six senior civil officials and the remaining 130 individuals had either been removed, suspended or warned.

Kohistani said hundreds of millions of afghanis had been quoted embezzled in the dossiers. He said the cases included the embezzlement of more than one million afghanis by eight ghost guards at the Hamid Karzai International Airport.

Meanwhile, MoI spokesman Najib Danish told the same press conference that intelligence gathering and security zones had been prioritized in the Kabul security plan.

He said Kabul was not under any security threat, rejecting reports in this regard on the social media. He said the Kabul city security plan, which had been sent to the president, had arrived back at the Ministry of Interior.
