Grenades lobbed into cricketer’s house in Nangarhar

JALALABD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have lobbed hand grenades into cricket player Hamid Hassan’s residence in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Rokhan Township in limits of the 4th police district late on Monday night.

He said there were no causalities and security forces had launched investigations into the incident. Security forces have reached the locality and taken control of Hamid Hassan’s house.

Meanwhile, police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal said after the incident police reinforcements were dispatched to the area.

Meanwhile, Hassan confirmed the attack but said no one had suffered casualties. He did not go into details.

An eyewitness, Badam Ahmadzai, claimed seeing broken windowpanes in the player’s home. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
