SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): A man has killed his 35-year-old wife who was four and a half months pregnant in northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said Monday.

Zabihullah Amani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Yakab-Dasht village on Sunday night.

He identified the slain woman as Hajera who had been pregnant for four and a half months.

Nasema Arzo, womeninfo-icon’s affairs director, confirmed the incident and added that Hajera had complained to their office three years back when she had been beaten and denied food.

Hajera had in the past tried to take divorce from her husband but after a few months she had no problem with her husband and she withdrew left her case in the middle.

Arzo named her husband as Bunyad and Hajera was his second wife. Hajera was killed as a result of domestic violence and poor economic situation. She left behind one year old baby.

Meanwhile, Gul Mohammad Karimi, a religious scholar, linked the incident to the lack of knowledge about the Constitution.
