KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Newly-appointed commander of Kabul Asmai zone police Brig. Gen. Mohammad Daud Amin on Tuesday vowed to put in place strict security measures in capital Kabul.

Addressing reporters here, Amin said he would review appointments in the 101st Asmaye Zone Police.

“Transfers and appointments in the Kabul Police Headquarters will be carried out transparently and on merit,” the regional police commander said, promising crackdown on corruption.

Nusrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said Brig. Gen. Amin had earlier served as police chief of southeastern Khost province and would replace Lt. Gen. Mohammad Salem Ihsas as Police Chief of 101st Kabul Asmaye Zone.

He said Amin was picked by the MoI and endorsed by the President. Lt. Gen. Salem Ihsas had been as acting police chief.
