Australia slaps sanctions on Daesh’s Afghanistan arm

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Australian government has announced imposing financial counter-terrorism sanctions on the Islamic State's branch in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

The Islamic State in Khorasan Province had conducted terrorist attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistaninfo-icon, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said on Tuesday.

According to Associated Press, civilian and government targets, as well as international aid workers, have been the target of attacks by the IS -- also known as Daesh.

“Australia has also renewed its terror listing for IS in Sinai province, which has attacked civilian Muslim and Coptic Christian targets as well as Egyptian security forces.”
