LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A dozen militants have been killed, three captured alive and six others wounded in separate clearing operations in southern Helmand province, an official said on Tuesday.

Maj. Abdul Qader Bahaderzai, spokesmen for the 215th Maiwand Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News that security forces targeted Talibaninfo-icon hideouts in Greshk district late on Monday night.

He said four rebels were killed, three held alive and their weapons, ammunition and mines factory were destroyed during the overnight offensive.

Separately, five insurgents have killed and two others wounded in the Syedan locality of the district, the spokesman said.

During a joint four-day operation, at least three Taliban were killed and two others wounded in the Nada Alai district of the province, he concluded.

Police spokesman Lt. Abdul Salaam Afghan confirmed the operations and causalities inflicted on the insurgents in Greshk, Nahr-i-Saraj and Nad Ali districts.

But Mohammad Wali, a resident of the Charahi Mirza area of Nada Ali district, confirmed the arrival of reinforcements in the village, which has been under Taliban control over the past two years.

He said security forces had constructed a new check-post in the village.

On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi rejected the security forces’ advance in Nand Ali and claimed inflicting heavy causalities on government forces in Naw Roz area.
