29 Taliban killed in Helmand, Ghazni operations

GHAZNI CITY/LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least 29 insurgents have been killed and as many wounded during separate operations in southern Helmand and Ghazni provinces, the army said on Tuesday.

Afghan security forces conducted operations in Deh Yak, Andar and Awghaz districts of Ghazni late on Monday night, a statement from the 203rd Thunder Military Corps said.

Nineteen militants were killed and five others wounded during the offensives, he said, adding Talibaninfo-icon’s key leaders named Rahmat Mubarez, Amin and Nazir were among the dead.

In Helmand, six militants including a group commander, Maulviinfo-icon Wafa, were killed and four others wounded in airstrikes in Marja district by US forces, said the statement.

Four other insurgents were killed and two wounded in a foreign forces’ airstrike in the Shawal area of Nad Ali district.

Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman claimed in a tweet that casualties had inflected on security forces in Helmand and Ghazni province.
