KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): An anti-corruption court on Tuesday sentenced two senior police officials to three years of imprisonment and acquitted a fourth accused in the case.

The convicts, Syed Omar Nayabzada, former head of criminal investigation of 606 zone police for Heart province, deputy criminal investigation head Najib Rahman and second sergeant Abdul Rahman, had been accused of misusing their authority and collusion with kidnappers.

The three were tried in the primary court of the Anti-Corruption Justice Centre in Kabul, which is responsible for tackling high-level corruption in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

The prosecutor initially presented arguments against the three officials accused of misuse of authority and collaboration with kidnappers.

But their advocates rejected the claims against their clients. However, the judge sentenced Omar Nayabzada and second sergeant Abdul Rahman to three years of imprisonment.

Col. Abdul Rahman was acquitted in the case. The jury ruled the verdicts were not final and could be challenged.
