KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Second vice-president Sarwar Danish on Wednesday said government servants were recruited on merit and keeping in mind balance among tribes.

Danish was addressing a gathering commemorating the 23rd death anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari at the Presidential Palace.

The VP said Mazari’s mission had been national unity and he had taken significant steps to reach that goal.

Danish said balance was being maintained among tribes and merit was held supreme in recruitment of government employees.

“Tribal balance in administration is the demand of all of us, employment of government officers on merit and tribal balance is a slow process but we have achievements in the area as well.”

He said administrative reforms and prevention of discrimination had recently accelerated following putting in place a special legal mechanism.

“I today ask the president, the office of administrative affairs and the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IARCSC) to publish the percentage of government employees of all tribes so people know the facts,” Danish added.

He said the government did not want to hide anything either good or bad about governance from people.

“All support a national dialogue and national understanding in the national unity government and no one wants weakness of national foundations,” he said.

Danish said all people had the right to protest against the government but with rational and legal reasons and not to promote personal interests.
