Indonesian giant to expand business in Afghanistan

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok):  An Indonesian construction giant has evinced a keen interest in expanding its business in Afghanistaninfo-icon, with focus on infrastructure development.

The state-owned construction firm PT Wijaya Karya Persero (Wika) said it was ready to help boost bilateral ties and benefit from infrastructure construction projects in Afghanistan.

ANTARA quoted Wika`s President Bintang Perbowo as saying the firm had recorded profit from its construction projects in Algiers, the United Arab Emirates), Saudi Arabia, Myanmar and other states.

On Monday, an Afghan business delegation, led by senior Foreign Ministry official Musa Arefi, visited Wika. The team was accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Afghanistan Arief Rachman.

Wika and Afghanistan construction company Haji Khalil Construction Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on infrastructure projects in Afghanistan.

The agreement was signed by Wika`s General Manager for Foreign Affairs Yulianto and the Afghan firm director, Khalil Samar Gul.

Musa Arefi said that the meeting had given an opportunity to both companies to know each other. "Wika has the capacity and experience and could participate in the development of infrastructure in Afghanistan."
